University Week

                                                                     Like a Virgin

By Ma. Sophia R. Legaspi

Do you ever remember the first time you tried it? The sensation of the first taste lingering in your body? The fresh breath of a wonderful feeling that keeps you up all night? Can you forget the time you give it all at once? Let me tell you a story.

It all started that day. It was supposed to be an ordinary day, but today was a special one. Everyone had been waiting for this day to come, aside from this seeming celebration, it was a day that brought joy and glee to everyone. I went to my usual routine with the hope that this day would be unusual. Well, everyone had a high spirit about this happening, and I could feel the enjoyment in the air. It has been a busy week but everyone seemed to have an energy reserved for this. Well, the ambiance was really contagious. Like, it was nothing big, but it seemed to tickle something inside of me. It was like a magic that worked on its own.

Of course being new to the rest, the feelings were intriguing. Probably a lot of the people around had done it already, but it would be my first. How did it actually feel like? How did it feel like when you actually became one? How tiring could it actually be? Could I hear literal screams while doing it? Would he call my name? They said it was a majestic feeling of relief and satisfaction.

I was new to it, so I really didn't know exactly how it worked. They said it was a casual thing and there was no dress up needed to start it. It could be open to anyone who wanted to join, for some. But for me, I preferred it in a traditional way - only two people were involved. I was excited to actually try it for the first time with my other one. He seemed to like it at first, and I never thought we would like it until the end. We both tried different things in different positions, and what was thrilling about it, was some things came offered! And we gotta choose what were the things that would work for us. Wasn't that amazing?!

Then the night came. We welcomed the darkness with such intimacy. It was mixed with pleasure in the colors of yellow, gold, blue, red and violet. It is not a rainbow but still a marvelous sight to see. I felt like a princess with sparks showering upon us. We hugged, kissed multiple times not minding the crowd and the eyes that would stare. Their reactions were nothing compared to our passionate expressions.

And yeah, I could never believe that the first time was this tiring thing. Now, it was proven and tested.

And that was how the University week was for me. It was pumped and enthusiastic! Exhausting, yet something to look forward to every year!

Sto. Nino Parade, January 15, 2023

Hello everyone! I'm back with a new experience for youuuuuu! <3

This was crazy! We joined the parade of Sto.Nino for the Feast of Sto. Nino. We actually walked with the parade for two hours. And it was no joke. It rained a little bit but we were not stopping. I didn't even believe that I was able to walked that far.

Before the parade commence, there was a blessing of the Sto.Ninos. There were a lot of people with different Sto.Ninos as well. After the mass blessing, it was followed by the parade.

The music was lively, and there were a lot of people who joined the parade. Many watched from their homes, too. We were able to get candies too!

For me, this was one of the best experiences so far. I really had fun with the floats and enjoyed the people around me. It felt like it was a bonding of us four in the family. For once, my fear of many people and zombie apocalypse were gone for a while. It was nice to be surrounded with many people who enjoyed the same thing as you do!

Despite of my achy feet and sore pelvis, we made it to the mass and went home to take a rest after.

2022 Realization : What I Learned This Year

2022 end comes nearer each day and it was nice to look back and realize what this year had taught me. I started the year with COVID and might end it with hypertension diagnosis but it would stop me from realizing some thoughts that made me stunned and paused for a while, “Hey, like what - ?”

So let me share to you what I learned this year.

I'm in love with the moon. Like the moon, I shine despite the hugs of the darkness. I go to different phases until I am whole again. And that is okay. Like the moon, I want people to look up on me in their darkest times and let my glow inspire to live their best life. | Photo credits from Google.
